ABOUT THE 1920s

Index > What is the Era?

Brace yourselves and prepare to be amazed as this year, Aa is taking you back to the 1920’s, to The Era Of Decadence.

The Roaring Twenties were a revolutionary period remembered for its art, fashion, music and the grandeur of society. Driven by a prosperous economy, people immersed themselves in lifestyles of carefree and lavish excess. The Decadence of the era is epitomized by the pursuit of pleasure and of almost sinful levels of self-indulgence.

The 1920s saw the advent of the ‘flapper’, women who wore their hems high and hair short, flouting their frivolous spirit and rebellion. Jazz music permeated through the streets and the Broadway dominated the night life. Prohibition of alcohol saw the creation of illegal ‘gin joints’ and the idolizing of the Mafia.

It was an era to let your hair down.
